# Location

> Where things happen and how they connect: dot globes, partial globes and flat maps drawn from an embedded world dataset, with no map tiles. The dots carry the motion; every label and number stays real text.

30 components.

- [Connection globe](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/globe.md) `<geo-globe>`: A dotted globe of the land masses with a hairline coastline. Each connection is a dotted arc that rises higher the farther it travels, with a packet at its head. When the packet lands, the land dots around the destination light up in an uneven ring and a few sparks fly off past the edge of the globe.
- [Horizon globe](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/horizon.md) `<geo-horizon>`: The top of a large dotted globe rising from the bottom edge, for page heroes. On first view the horizon line draws out from its middle and the land appears behind an uneven, bright front that spreads from the same point.
- [Day and night](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/daynight.md) `<geo-daynight>`: A dotted globe split by the terminator. The twilight band is drawn with an ordered dither, so day thins into night dot by dot, and city lights shine on the night side.
- [Event spikes](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/spikes.md) `<geo-spikes>`: Counts per location as spikes of stacked dots standing on a dotted globe. Heights use a log scale by default, so one busy city does not flatten the rest.
- [Globe to map](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/unfold.md) `<geo-unfold>`: One set of land dots that is either a globe or a flat map. Switching peels the globe open at the back: dots near the seam swing out first and the hidden side comes around the edges as it turns toward you. When the cut edges land, light runs along them; closing folds the middle first.
- [Region badge](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/badge.md) `<geo-badge>`: A pill with a tiny dotted globe, a region name and its latency, for headers, footers and status bars. The globe shows where the region is.
- [Marker map](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/marker-map.md) `<geo-marker-map>`: A flat map of land dots with markers. Markers with a value grow a halo of lit dots sized by that value, so the busiest places read at a glance without circles drawn over the map.
- [Live visitors](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/visitors.md) `<geo-visitors>`: A live map of visits with a feed beside it and an online-now count. Each visit drops onto the map and lands with a splash of light and a few sparks that can fly past the map's edge, while its row slides into the feed.
- [Region traffic](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/flows.md) `<geo-flows>`: Traffic between regions as dotted curves whose width and particle rate follow throughput. Downstream runs in the accent colour and upstream in the info colour, each bending to its own side of the line.
- [Country values](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/choropleth.md) `<geo-choropleth>`: Values per country shown as dot density: each country's land dots switch on in an ordered-dither pattern, so a higher class reads as a denser print. Countries without data stay as the plain base.
- [Clustered map](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/cluster.md) `<geo-cluster>`: A zoomable map for many points. Nearby points merge into clusters with a count; zooming in splits each cluster into its children, which spring out from where the parent was, and zooming out pulls them back together while the counts roll.
- [Location cell](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/mini-map.md) `<geo-mini-map>`: A 96 × 48 world thumbnail with one point, sized for table cells and list rows.
- [Anycast catchment](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/catchment.md) `<geo-catchment>`: Which point of presence serves which part of the world. Every land dot belongs to its nearest active site, the borders between catchments are drawn brighter, and the selected site's area is lit in the accent colour. Point at the map to see which site serves that spot and the estimated round trip.
- [Mesh connections](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/mesh.md) `<geo-mesh>`: The devices of a private network and how this device reaches each of them: directly, or through a relay server when a direct path cannot be opened. Relayed connections run as two legs through the relay; direct ones as a single line, with traffic moving both ways.
- [Traceroute](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/traceroute.md) `<geo-traceroute>`: A traceroute as a hop table and a map. The path draws hop by hop, and the packet waits at each hop for its share of the round-trip time, so slow hops are slow to watch.
- [Latency matrix](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/latency-matrix.md) `<geo-latency-matrix>`: Round-trip times between regions as a grid of dot blocks: the slower the pair, the more dots are lit. Pairs above a threshold get a warning mark.
- [Global checks](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/probes.md) `<geo-probes>`: Uptime checks from many locations against one target. Each round, every probe fires at the same moment and the arcs race to the target; each arrives after its own measured time, so the order they land in is the latency ranking.
- [Distance from here](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/azimuthal.md) `<geo-azimuthal>`: A round map that puts one place at the centre and every other place at its true distance and direction from it. Dotted rings mark every 2,000 km, or every 50 ms of round-trip time, and the outer edge is the point on the other side of the world.
- [Sign-in travel](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/access.md) `<geo-access>`: An account's sign-ins in order, joined by lines on a map, with the speed each move would have needed. A move faster than travel allows is flagged as impossible.
- [Attack origins](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/threats.md) `<geo-threats>`: Inbound requests from around the world converge on one protected site at the centre of a globe; requests from the far side come up over the horizon. A ring of dots around the site is its shield: blocked requests hit the ring and burst off it, allowed requests pass through and land.
- [Geofence](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/geofence.md) `<geo-geofence>`: Allowed zones as true geodesic circles on a flat map, with tracked devices inside them. Drag a zone's centre to move it and the handle on its edge to resize it; the circle keeps its real shape, so it stretches toward the poles.
- [Active sessions](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/sessions.md) `<geo-sessions>`: The places an account is signed in, as a list with a compact map above it. Each row shows the device type, the city and when it was last active; pointing at a row pulses its point and draws a line from this device to it.
- [Data residency](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/residency.md) `<geo-residency>`: Where data is stored and processed, measured against a jurisdiction. The zone's land is lit, sites are marked inside or outside it, and transfers between sites are drawn as lines with data moving along them.
- [IP lookup](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/ip.md) `<geo-ip>`: A field that looks up where an IP address is located and shows the result on a small map. While the lookup runs, a crosshair hops from land dot to land dot and slows down like a slot machine before it locks onto the result.
- [Region picker](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/region-picker.md) `<geo-region-picker>`: Pick a deployment region from a list with a map above it. The selection reticle travels to the new region along the great-circle path with a comet tail, and the land dots under it are magnified as it passes.
- [Location picker](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/location-picker.md) `<geo-location-picker>`: Choose a point on a map. Click or tap to drop the pin, search for a place, or type exact coordinates into the latitude and longitude fields.
- [Area select](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/area.md) `<geo-area>`: Draw a rectangle of latitude and longitude on a map to select an area, for example to filter events by place. Move it, resize it from its edges and corners, type exact bounds, or double-click a country to fit the box to it.
- [Coordinate field](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/coordinate.md) `<geo-coordinate>`: A text field for coordinates that reads the usual ways of writing them: decimal degrees, degrees with minutes and seconds, hemisphere letters, or a signed pair. A small world map beside it shows what it read.
- [Meeting planner](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/timezones.md) `<geo-timezones>`: Several cities on one time line, one row per city, with each hour drawn as a block of dots: dense for working hours, sparse for the night. Drag the cursor across the rows and every city's local time rolls with it.
- [Route playback](https://elements.lumesec.ai/components/location/route.md) `<geo-route>`: Replays a recorded track on a map fitted to it. The marker turns along its heading and leaves a wake of dots that cools behind it; stops leave a ring of dots that fills while the track waits there.
